A woman was caught with a loaded handgun at Yeager Airport in Charleston on Sunday morning.
Airport officials say the woman, from South Charleston, entered the TSA checkpoint and placed her carry-on items in bins to pass through the metal detector. TSA officers then spotted a .22 caliber handgun loaded with five bullets.
Yeager Airport Police then responded, confiscated the gun and cited the woman on a state weapons charge.
This was the second time in 2017 that TSA has found a gun at Yeager Airport.
Following WV's free carry law, ten guns were found at the airport during all of 2016.
Historically, in previous years, it was rare to have a passenger with a gun. |
