1/3/2017 - Connie Brown, 53, and granddaughter Kadie Truman 9, of Indore, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, in a car accident. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, W.Va. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery, Bell Creek, W.Va.
12/28/16 - Family members say a second person has died as a result of a Clay County car crash that occurred Tuesday night.
Kadie Faith Truman, 10, and her grandmother, Connie Brown, died in the crash, family members said.
Officials said another person, a child injured in the crash was flown to a Charleston hospital. That person's condition was not announced.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
UPDATE 12/28/16 - Investigators believe excessive speed was the main factor which caused an accident on Route 16 near the community of Bickmore in Clay County Tuesday evening which left one dead and two severely injured.
"An eyewitness of the accident indicates speed was a factor," said Clay County Deputy Tyler Caruthers. "The vehicle rolled in a curve."
The vehicle was being driven by a woman who's grandchildren were passengers. One of the passengers, a 10 year old girl, died at the scene. The driver and the second grandchild were taken to CAMC via HealthNet. Caruthers had no update on their condition this morning.
"Two to three of the individuals were ejected," said Caruthers. "At this time we aren't for sure if the third individual was ejected, but we know for sure that two of them were."
The Clay County Sheriff's Department continued to investigate the crash Wednesday morning. Names of the three victims have not been released by investigators.
12/27/2015 - A 10-year-old girl is dead and two others were injured after a crash near Bickmore, Clay County, late Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, the single vehicle went off the road and skidded onto its side.
Three people were inside the car at the time of the crash.
There is no word on how severely the other two people were injured, but they were both flown to a medical center. |
