(09/29/2016)
A Clay County man who was injured following an explosion at his home when West Virginia State Police Troopers on the scene has been arraigned on the attempted murder on the officers.

Denver Rucker Jr. was arraigned in Cabell County and charged with cultivation of marijuana and attempted murder, however Rucker is still in hospital.

Troopers went to his home on Little Queen Road to talk to the homeowner about marijuana plants growing on the property back in August.

The woman who answered the door told troopers the man they needed to talk with was in a shed out back.

They knocked, and there was no answer. However, they were confident that he was in the shed because they said they noticed freshly picked marijuana plants.

After waiting a short period of time, the suspect fired a shot at officers. Troopers called for backup, including a SWAT Team.

Shortly before the additional crews arrived at the scene, some sort of explosion happened inside the shed.

Rucker Jr. was badly burned. Troopers were able to take him into custody. Troopers say they are familiar with the suspect in the incident. They describe him as anti-government and anti-police person.
