A Wirt County man whose body was found Monday near the Little Kanawha Nursery
at Newark, likely died at another location. An autopsy and medical examination has
been completed in Charleston on 37-year-old David Caltrider, but a report is yet to be
issued.
Sgt. L. J. Peck said there were no obvious wounds on the remains, but the death is
being treated as suspicious.
Greg Bush, Wirt County Coroner, said Caltrider appeared to have been dead for quite
a while, indicating the body may have been placed in a location where it would be
found. The body was discovered by a nursery employee when he came to work before
7 a.m.
Funeral arrangements will be completed at the Busch Funeral Home in Elizabeth.
A Ritchie County man has been arrested for the murder of Mathew Thomas, 33.
Police said Pennsboro resident Jerry Nicholson, 34, is being charged in the shooting
death of the Waterford, Ohio man last Saturday.
Nicholson allegedly shot Thomas in the leg at a residence near the Ritchie-Tyler
County line. He died a short time later.
Nicholson is being held in North Central Regional Jail on a first-degree murder
charge.
Authorities have yet to indicate a motive for the shooting.
A 16-year-old female has been arrested and charged with
the murder of two adults near Mannington, Marion County.
The bodies of a man and woman were found in shallow graves last
Sunday by Senior State Trooper J.A. McDougal, who was
responding to a welfare check of two people on Llewellyn Run.
The trooper located two shallow graves containing
white adults, one male and one female.
The bodies are believed to be those of the people who resided at an
unkempt
mobile home in the rural area of the county.
A Clio, Roane County man is recovering after he was shot by his son last week.
Kermit Godbey, 48, underwent emergency surgery at CAMC and is listed in
satisfactory condition.
Twenty-five-year-old Brian Lee Godbey has been charged with malicious wounding,
after he shot his father in the chest and leg.
