The Mike Arthur Era gets under way Friday night when the Calhoun Red Devils open the 2016 football season on the road at Wirt County.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Arthur, who takes over for Mike Fitzwater, has 28 players on the roster this season including six seniors.
Arthur said the Red Devils are very young.
Probably the most experienced Red Devil is senior Seth Moore a two-way starter at running back and linebacker. Other seniors include Connor Ritchie, Nick Murphy, Dylan Heiney, Zack Yanero, James Knicely and James Jones.
The junior class is led by two-way starter Caden Hicks who should play quarterback and defensive end. Hicks is joined by much of the offensive line including Jordan Basnett, David Marks and Riley Holcomb. Other juniors include Soney Wilson, Noah Allen, Case Carter, Ben Frederick, Levi Estep and Adam Walker.
Sophomores include Hayden Richards, Lance Smith, James Summers and Ryan Little. Richards saw considerable playing time last year as a freshman.
There as six freshmen including Jesse Kargol, Adam Parsons, Justin Mounts, Jimmy Dawson, Mason Keener and Adam Parsons.
Joining Arthur on the coaching staff are Adam O'Hara, Scott Golinsky, Adam Carter and Paul Parsons.
After Friday's opener the Red Devils return to Mount Zion next Friday night to play host to Sherman. Game time is 7 p.m.
