The state lottery commission says buyer beware to West Virginians purchasing Powerball tickets.
The West Virginia Lottery is warning residents to ignore internet sites that claim they are selling tickets for the winning
pot.
"It's illegal to buy tickets over the internet," said Lottery spokeswoman, Nancy Bulla "By purchasing such tickets both the
buyer and seller are breaking numerous federal laws."
Many of the Web sites originate outside the United States and do not have access to the tickets.
The state lottery has been cautioning players through television spots. The ads are regularly put out once the pot reaches
80 million dollars.
Saturday's $215 million dollar Powerball jackpot, is the third largest in the history of the game. People are standing in long
lines to purchase chances for the big win.
Multi-State Lottery Association spokesman Joe Mahoney says ticket sales are projected at 90 million dollars for Saturday's
drawing.
The game, based in Des Moines, Iowa, is played in West Virginia and 22 other states, the District of Columbia and the U-S
Virgin Islands.
