Larry C. Knopp, 78, of Reedy, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Charleston Area Medical Center's Memorial Division in Charleston, West Virginia.
He was born March 3, 1938 in Rochester, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Alta Brabham Knopp.
Larry attended Spencer High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959 and the U.S. Navy from 1959-1964. He was a former employee of Alcoa Aluminum in Evansville, Indiana and Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, West Virginia. Larry was the owner/operator of Larry C. Knopp Auction Company and served on the board of the West Virginia Auctioneers Association.
He enjoyed planning and attending the Spencer High School Class of 1956 reunions as well as the Navy USS Independence Association reunions, was a Christian and attended the Gilboa Baptist Church and enjoyed collecting antiques, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was adored by his family and will be greatly missed.
Larry is survived by his wife, Virginia McKown Knopp of Reedy; a son, Harry C. Knopp of Ripley, West Virginia; a daughter, Milissa Knopp (Gary) Mace of Spencer; two grandchildren, Taylor and Sawyer Mace; a brother, Harry Knopp of Parkersburg; two sisters, Jeanie Knopp of Spencer and Jo Ann Norman of Evansville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Larry was preceded in death by his sisters, Levada O'Brien and Betty Gae Knopp Koone, and a brother, Raymond Knopp.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer with Pastor Larry Greathouse officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Reedy. Visiting will be Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
