With June just around the corner, residents are hopeful the Grantsville Farmers Market will open soon at Wayne Underwood Field.
However, before the market can open and sales can begin, the Market needs vendors.
This year, the Market is welcoming vendors of various products to come out and join them in attracting a crowd and providing some great local (within 50 miles) products.
To gage the interest of potential vendors, a meeting will be held on Friday, May 13 at the Calhoun County Court House (Commissioners' Courtroom) at 1:00 p.m. Anyone with an interest in selling at the market is asked to attend.
Vendors may include producers of any of the following: fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, ornamental produce, potted plants, bedding plants, wool fleeces, hay/straw, homemade soaps and other various personal products, and crafts. Honey, maple syrup, eggs, baked goods, jams/preserves, poultry, red meat, and fish are also acceptable as long as all US Department of Agriculture paperwork has been filed and the products are properly labeled.
Traditionally, the market has run from June-Sept. So, now is the time to round-up producers of quality goods to help in attracting a crowd to the market.
