On Tuesday, May 3, Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and Regional Affiliates (PACF) is again hosting Give Local MOV, a unique 24-hour online giving challenge that encourages local giving.
Give Local MOV is part of Give Local America, a national crowd-funding day started in 2014. In preparation for the day, the PACF has raised more than $120,000 to be awarded through matching funds and incentive prizes throughout the 24-hour giving period.
The PACF is partnering with the region's nonprofits to meet their needs and help connect people in the Foundation's 11-county service area and elsewhere in the country with the causes they care about.
Current partners for Give Local MOV include 43 local programs, causes and organizations with missions supporting animals; arts and culture; community improvement; education; environment; health; human services; and youth development. Nonprofits invited to participate in the Give Local MOV event are those with a charitable fund associated with the PACF's family of funds, including funds associated with the PACF's Little Kanawha Area affiliate (LKACF).
Participating from the Little Kanawha Area are Minnie Hamilton Health System and Little Kanawha Area Grantmaking Fund.

"This is a great opportunity for supporters of our Little Kanawha Area participating entities to significantly multiply the impact of their gifts. Getting to join in regional initiatives like Give Local MOV is one of the benefits of being part of the PACF," said LKACF's advisory committee chair, Jim Bennett. "When our local groups can increase each gift with match funds available, it's the best time to make a gift. Every gift helps. I encourage our community to participate."
While LKACF's own grant-making fund is available to receive gifts, so that Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center can receive the fullest benefit possible, the Foundation's own funds are not participating in the incentive opportunities.
The Foundation is encouraging everyone in the community to be a philanthropist on May 3rd. Individuals wishing to make a donation, minimum $10, are to visit
www.GiveLocalMOV.org on May 3rd and submit their donation through the secure online donation form.
