STATE PAROLE OFFICER ARRESTED BUYING DRUGS IN BRAXTON CO.

(04/23/2016)
A state parole officer was arrested Monday after Braxton County deputies observed him make a drug deal.

Christopher Bright, 36, of Parsons, is a state parole officer in Braxton County, according to court documents.

A "cooperating individual" agreed to sell Bright two 80mg oxycodone placebo pills, which were found in the floor of Bright's vehicle after he was pulled over.

Bright confessed to buying the pills and purchasing hydrocodone pills and methamphetamine from the same man on five different occasions between December 2015 and April 18, 2016.

Bright was working in his official capacity as a parole officer and was carrying his duty weapon with him at the time of the deal, said deputies. He also had a personal firearm with him inside the vehicle, which is against department policy, according to his supervisor.

Bright is charged with possession of a controlled substance and five counts of conspiracy.
