Mary Lou (Rinehart) Smith, 71, Napier, WV passed away March 13, 2016 at the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV.
She was born December 23, 1944 in Calhoun County, WV to the late Deco Rinehart and Audrey (Keith) Rinehart. She is also preceded in death by her infant brother, Deco Rinehart Jr.
Those left to honor her memory is her husband of fifty-two years, Charles A. Smith; daughters, Pamela Jo Baker, Connie Sue Gwynn (Brian) and Linda Darlene Perkins (Jeff); six grandchildren, Jennifer "Punkie" Perrine (Matthew), John Cameron and Christina Jo Baker, Nathan Gwynn, Sienna Gwynn, Garrett Perkins and step-grandson Dylan Gwynn. Also surviving is her sister Marlene Conley ("Junior" Lawrence Conley Jr.), several nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was a homemaker. She was a member of Newton Methodist Church and attended Tichenal Methodist Church in Heaters, WV. She was also a fifty year member of The Eastern Star, Linden Chapter 152. She enjoyed many hobbies such as crafts, crossword puzzles, farm animals, horse shows, flower gardening, bird watching (cardinals), gardening and cooking. Mary Lou owned llamas and two Emu's, which is the 2nd largest birds by height after its relative, the ostrich. She loved her grandchildren and was a wonderful caretaker. She was co-owner of the Smiths Hillbilly Store where they were known for their Ice Cream. In the past she volunteered for the Flatwoods Elementary School and served as President of the PTA. She enjoyed spending time with her family in the family cabin in Grafton, WV. She enjoyed going to Amish Country in Ohio.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621, from 4-8 p.m. She will also be honored by the Eastern Star during the visitation. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Eric Veltre officiating. Interment will follow at the Falls Mill Cemetery, Curry Ridge Road, at Napier, WV.
