Area residents enjoyed the Open House
The new Grantsville Dislocated Worker's Center on Main Street in Grantsville held an open house
Friday. Camden Blankenship, a
coordinator for the local program, welcomed community residents, Workforce Investment officials and
coordinators for the Bureau of Employment Programs to the site located in
the former Garland's Grocery.
Several residents and officials stopped by to welcome the new center to the county.
"We're here to provide free services to people who need help getting jobs," said Delores Curry.
"We are a satellite of the Parkersburg Job Service office. Anyone can benefit from
our resources," said Blankenship.
The new office has several computers with high-speed access for "anything job
related." Resumes may be prepared free of charge, with assistance by the staff.

People may now come to the office to update Job Service registration instead of
going to Parkersburg or Charleston. Blankenship said the office will likely stay open
if it is used by local residents. The site will also be used to update unemployment benefits.
"We are trying to orient the community to our services and promote visitors to our
offices," he said. "With better communications, everyone benefits." |
