COUPLE ARRESTED IN CHARLESTON MALL -
Police arrested two people they said were walking around the Charleston Town Center Mall with weapons and drugs.
police received an anonymous tip that two people, George Leake III and Tamara Lanham, were at the mall with guns, drugs and a lot of cash.
Rather than approaching the two inside the mall and creating a possibly dangerous situation for shoppers, a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court said police waited and approached the two in the parking garage.
When they got close, they saw that Leake had a gun holster and he appeared to toss the gun into the car when he saw police approaching. Lanham also had a loaded gun in her purse.
Police then arrested the two and searched them and the vehicle.
The criminal complaint said police recovered $26,000 in cash and crystal meth and heroin with a street value of about $10,000. Police determined they had been carrying the drugs and cash while they were in the mall.
Leake and Lanham were arrested and charged with possession of a deadly weapon without a permit, and more charges are expected to be filed.
