Marvin Lee Starcher, 78, of Mt. Zion, WV passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio following an extended illness.
He was born December 15, 1937 in Calhoun County, WV the son of Virginia Bailey Starcher and the late Clayton Starcher.
He was a graduate of Calhoun Coutny High School, Class of 1955. He served in the U. S. Navy, worked several years in Ohio as a Master Electrician, taught electricity at the Roane-Jackson Technical Center. He retired from teacher at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center. He was a member of Prudence Chapel United Methodist Church, Minnora.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Joy Marie Shaffer Starcher and two nephews, Michael and David LaFleur of Kanawha County.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Jean LaFleur and brother-in-law, "Frenchie" LaFleur of Cross Lanes, WV.
Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Hickman officiating. Interment will be in Minnora Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. |
