TIMBERLINE SKI LIFT FIXED FOLLOWING MALFUNCTION - Spencer Businessman's Family Among Those Stuck

(02/29/2016)
A chair lift at Timberline ski resort in Tucker County has resumed operation a week after a mechanical failure left about 100 skiers stranded and two injured.

Media outlets reported a cross-arm on the lift detached from a tower causing several chairs to derail and a few dozen skiers to fall off the lift.

Among those affected by the problem was the family of Spencer businessman John Denbigh, including his grandchildren.

Denbigh, who was on the ground, said they were rescued after being stuck for an hour.

News reports said that about 25 people had fallen, while 100 people were stranded.

Two people suffered minor injuries.
