| John Lawrence Boyce 62, of Elizabeth WV passed away February 25, 2016 surrounded by family and friends at Camden Clark Memorial Campus, after a brief illness.
John was the son of the late Lawrence and Naomi (Kieffer) Boyce.
He graduated from Wirt County High School in 1971, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was chosen as a first team All-State Football Player in 1970. He was recipient of the WV Golden Horseshoe in 1967. He graduated from WV Tech in 1975, where he played football. He retired from GE/Sabic May 1, 2013 after 34 years of service. He was part owner of Mingo Bottom Golf Club.
John is survived by his wife, Ann (Cale) Boyce; 2 sons, Boone (Amy) Boyce and Lane Boyce both of Elizabeth; sisters, Linda (Richard) Doheny, Janey Wigal (Richard Cain) and Amy Thomas (Brent Woomer), all of Elizabeth; brother Danny (Karol) Boyce of Charlotte NC; and several nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed working on his farm, hunting, playing fast pitch softball, talking to family and friends at his "Man Cave".
For several years John played Santa Claus for families in the community.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, brother in law, Danny Adams and mother and father in law, Clyde and Virginia Cale.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth, WV with Pastor Richard Cale, Pastor Darin Cale and Pastor Bob Carr officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 1, 2016 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth, WV.
