CALHOUN LOSES PAIR OF HEART BREAKERS TO DODDRIDGE

Doddridge's Ben Rock scored from in close with 15.9 seconds remaining Tuesday night to lead the Bulldogs to a 41-40 varsity victory over Calhoun in Senior Night for the Red Devils.

Rock's basket was the last points in the game although Calhoun had its chances at the end but came up short when it missed a 10-foot jump shot with 4.0 seconds remaining and had the rebound put-back go in after the final buzzer.

In the junior varsity game the Red Devils led almost all the way before letting the unbeaten (17-0) Bulldogs rally in the fourth quarter to get the 55-47 victory.

The Red Devils are now idle until Saturday night when they travel to face Parkersburg Catholic in the first round of the sectional tournament. Game time is 7 p.m.

After a sluggish first quarter Calhoun grabbed the lead in the second and continued to hold the lead until right at the end of the game when Rock's bucket put Doddridge on top for good.

Rock led Doddridge with 14. He was the only Bulldog to hit in double figures.

He was backed by freshman Tanner Lett with seven while Drew Lett and Hunter Riffle added six apiece. Colten Oliver had four, Garrett Deveraux three and Chase Dunaway one to round out the score for the 13-8 Bulldogs.

Calhoun, 11-9, was led by Zack Yanero with 15 points and 17 rebounds. He was backed by Ethyn Miller and Dylan Heiney with eight each, Austin Gribble with seven and Ben Frederick with two. Dakota Jarvis played but did not score.

Gribble did have 10 rebounds while Miller had four assists and Heiney four steals.

In the junior varsity game the Red Devils grabbed the lead early and had the unbeaten Bulldogs on their heels most of the way before the final period when varsity players Tanner Lett and Dunaway combined for 13 of their team's 18 points as they rallied for the win after Calhoun's Soney Wilson fouled out.

Brandon Clevenger ;led Doddridge with 15 while Dunaway added 12 and Lett 10.

Matt Kerns had seven, Rod Galagher six and Hunter Hayes five to round out the scoring.

Trevor Carder led Calhoun with 14 points, seven assists and five rebounds while Wilson added 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

Frederick had seven, Levi Gregory five, John Long and Hayden Richards four and Nick Murphy three to round out the scoring. Noah Allen, David Marks and Caden Hicks all played but did not score.
