A public meeting was conducted Tuesday at the Calhoun courthouse to select ballot positions for the Primary Election.
Calhoun County Clerk Jean Simers said each of the 55 counties must draw for the ballot order on the same day.
"Counties do it different ways, but we selected to use the same system as is used to select jurors, a metal cage with ping pong balls that are numbered," said Simers.
"We put the appropriate number of balls for that office in the cage and what ever number came out first was assigned to the first name on the list, followed by other candidate," she said.
Simers said a number of local candidates attended the drawing, monitored by official representatives from both parties, Linda McCartney - Republican,
Melissa Hixon - Democrat, in addition to county commissioners Westfall and Helmick.
