CROSSBOW SHOOTING - A Parkersburg man is facing charges after his wife told police he shaved her head, shot her with a small crossbow multiple times in the back and legs, and then shot her with a .22 caliber rifle in the right foot.
Parkersburg police said Phillip Harvey Wise, 33, is charged with malicious assault.
Police said they were dispatched to a home along Pike Street on Thursday in reference to a woman "accidentally" being shot in the foot. Officers spoke with Wise's wife, Megan Wise, who said he shaved her head, shot her with a small crossbow multiple times in the back and legs, and shot her with a .22 caliber rifle in the right foot.
Megan Wise was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police said officers tried to make contact with Phillip Wise, by phone and in person, at which time the suspect attempted to flee from officers.
Phillip Wise was subsequently taken into custody in the wooded area behind the house.
He was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center for medical clearance. He was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court and failed to post his $300,000 bond.
Wise remains in North Central Regional Jail. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible, police said.
ARDEN SHOOTING - As the investigation continues into an incident that left a man dead and a woman in the hospital, police are releasing more information.
Multiple firearms have been located in the home along Proudfoot Road in Arden where police last week found Harold Wayne Westfall dead with a gunshot wound to the right side of his head and Kimberly Dawn Westfall injured with two gunshot wounds on her eye and ear.
After surveying the scene, State Police determined there was no forced entry into the home and the incident only involved the Westfalls.
What specifically led to the gunshot wounds remains under investigation.
