| Roger L. Alfred, age 71, of Lakeville, Ohio, entered into rest, Thursday, February 4, 2016 at his home following a long and courageous battle to cancer. He was surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 7, 1945 in Calhoun Co., W.Va. to Richard V. and Chloe (Butler) Alfred and has been an area resident for most of his life.
He married Bonnie Huffman on March 10, 1984 in Wooster. She survives.
He previously worked for Akron Brass as a Buffer for 35 years before retiring in April 12, 2002.
He was a 1964 graduate of Calhoun High School.
He belonged to the Wooster and Loundonville Eagles Clubs; Loudonville American Legion, Wooster Moose Club, and Perrysville VFW. He loved to farm and enjoyed football, bowling and especially spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brian Alfred of Wooster, Keith (Renee) Alfred of Wooster, Jeffrey Alfred and Wilma Wilson of Dalton, Adam (Holly) Alfred of Creston and Adam Long and Amber Johns of Wooster; grandchildren Tyler, Hannah, Emma, Mallory Alfred and Alexis and Allie Long; sisters, Doris (William) McElvey of Naples, Fl. and Sally Grizzard of Dover, TN.; Sister in law, Nancy Alfred of Orrville; brothers in law, Chuck (Paula) Huffman of Wooster and Jim (Ellen) Huffman of Shelby, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Alfred and Brother, Jimmy Alfred.
It was his wishes there be no services. Visitation will be Sunday at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8pm.
A private interment will take place at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wooster at the convenience of the family.
