Alpha Natural Resources has issued WARN notices to more than 330 employees at four mines in West Virginia, including three in Braxton County.
The most recent notices were issued to four mines.
The mines will likely be idled in April.
Alpha said the notices were issued due to an oversupply of coal, dramatically reduced demand and a lack of coal orders.
Also at issue with low WV coal demand is the type of coal dredged in the Mountain State is not in high demand and the rise of natural gas.
The coal industry has blamed the decline on "Obama's War on Coal."
