OFFICER SHOTS SELF - A Sistersville police officer is recovering after accidentally shooting himself following a high-speed pursuit.
Media outlets reported that Sgt. Alex Northcraft was apprehending a suspect after a pursuit Monday night, when the officer tried to place his firearm back into his holster and the gun went off, striking himself in the upper leg.
The chase was related to reports of a car being stolen from a Sistersville convenience store.
Sistersville Police Chief Rob Haught said Northcraft was attempting to apprehend the suspect, but the individual failed to comply.
It is unclear regarding charges the suspect is facing.
HUNTINGTON POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING - Huntington police said one person was injured in a shooting.
Police said it happened about 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Marcum Terrace. Police said a man was shot in the leg, but the injuries do not appear to be life threatening. |
