Avery L. Ford, 64, of Windsor Township, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2002, at
his residence, after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Christine (Shipman) Ford. Mr.
Ford was a lathe specialist for Caterpillar in Mentor, Ohio, and then moved to
the York Plant, where he retired from after more than 27 years of service. He
then worked at the Bon-Ton Distribution Center for about eight years. He
served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963; and was a member of Local UAW
#786 and Red Lion Bible Church.
Born in Freed, W. Va., on December 25,
1937, he was the son of Ollie Olive (Shimer) Ford of Grantsville, W. Va., and
the late Alfred A. Ford.
Besides his wife and mother, he leaves four sons,
Philip Ford of York, Greg Ford and Kevin Ford, both of Painsville, Ohio, and
Gary Ford of Madison, Ohio; one daughter, Rachelle Ford of York; four
grandchildren; five sisters; and five brothers.
Viewings are 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 9-10
a.m. Friday at Burg Funeral Home Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service is 10 a.m.
Friday at the funeral home, with his pastor, the Rev. Steven Schmuck, officiating. Burial
will be in Freysville Cemetery , with full military honors provided by the York County
