Driver escapes vehicle in icy river
An SUV reportedly struck black ice on Rt. 16 south of Orma at 7:45 a.m. and plunged into the West Fork of the Little Kanawha near the location of the former Giars Grocery.
The vehicle, driven by a male high school student, landed on its top in the freezing water, the driver miraculously escaped from the submerged vehicle.
The Upper West Fork VFD, Minnie Hamilton EMS and Chief Deputy Jeff Starcher responded.
A second vehicle crashed about 9:40 a.m. on Rt. 16, just south of Crummies Creek near Rush Run, landing on its side. No injuries. |
