Prosecutor Jeff Davis of Clay, who issued a letter of resignation on November 22, can not
practice law without a law license, according to the Clay Communicator. Clay Circuit Clerk Mike Asbury reportedly
validated the problem this week.
Davis recently told The Communicator he was resigning because of financial reasons, and needed to return to private
practice.
Davis, according to the paper, has not paid his state bar fees, and became a prosecutor without a law license and is
apparently leaving this position without a law license.
The Clay Commission's decision on Davis' replacement could become
interesting when they meet Thursday with seven applicants seeking the Prosecutor's position.
