John Marshall Yeager, 85, of 314 Parkersburg Road, Spencer, West Virginia, died Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Miletree Center, Spencer, after an extended illness.
He was born October 31, 1930, at Marlinton, Pocahontas County, a son of the late Lewis Armstrong "Tom" and Irma Lillian Marshall Yeager. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
John was a 1948 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a 1951 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Institute; serving as a Personnel Technician and Job Analyst in the Air Force from 1948 until his discharge July 1,1952. His employment was with C&P Telephone Co. of W.Va. as cablesplicer and frameman; Henkles & McCoy, Blue Bell, PA as cablesplicer, supervisor, outside plant engineer; having worked in 40 states of the U.S., plus Saudi Arabia and Iran, retiring in 1996.
He was an active member of South Parkersburg United Methodist Church, also, Mt. Olivet Lodge #3 and Nemesis Temple; when he lived in the area.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Westfall Yeager; daughter, Mary Virginia Balser of Spencer; son, John Christopher Yeager and daughter, Carrie Louise Alton both of Parkersburg; brother, Lewis "Lew" Yeager of Marietta, Ohio; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
At John's request, his body has been donated to the WVU Medical School.
Burial will be at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is assisting the family with arrangements.
