Hard Rain, Hard Wind is a powerful poetic dialogue about familial shame and reconciliation that emerges between the poet, her grandfather Joe, and several generations of female family members connected to Calhoun County.

Jamie Weaver was born in rural Calhoun, West Virginia, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. She holds an MA in English Composition and Rhetoric and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts.
In 2014, Weaver served as a Fulbright grantee in Romania, where she taught writing at the University of Bucharest, and she is an internationally exhibited book artist whose artist books can be found in numerous university library special collections throughout the United States.
Her work has been published in The Found Poetry Review and JAB (The Journal of Artists' Books). Weaver currently teaches writing at New River Community and Technical College in southern West Virginia.

Jamie Weaver is the daughter of Neva Bailey of Grantsville and the late Jim Weaver of Okinawa, Japan. She grew up on Yellow Creek in the farmhouse once owned by her great grandparents, Frank and Etta Holpp. Her grandparents are Fern Weaver and the late Lauren Weaver of Mt. Zion, and the late Dorma and Joe Frame of Munday. Her book of poetry is inspired by old family letters written to and about her grandfather Joe.
