Michael W. "Mick" Stump, 48, of Parkersburg WV, passed away on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, in Roane County from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
He was born Jan. 23, 1967, in Parkersburg, the son of the late Carl M. Stump and Rosa Lee Stump Stanley.
Mick was a 1985 graduate of Parkersburg South High School and went on to graduate in 1988 from DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science and Electronics. He has been employed by Dupont Washington Works since 1996 where he worked in MPW.
Mick played baseball for several years at Godbey Field making the All Star Team most seasons. He was a member of the Rifle team with the WV Jaycee Shooters Ed Program 1978-1984 and was invited to the Olympic training center in Colorado. He enjoyed working with computers, was an avid hunter and enjoyed ATV riding, taking his son and best friend, Sean, with him on Poker Runs and on their annual Thanksgiving week hunt.
He is survived by his son, Sean Stump; sisters, Rita Daley (Hank) and Vicki Kupfner; nephews, Jordan Lowers and Austin Kupfner; niece, Lindsey Kupfner; stepfather, Harold Stanley (Debbie), all of Parkersburg; stepsister, Sandy Webb (Bruce) of Texas and stepbrother, Phil Stanley (Jackie) of Ohio, along with their children; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son's mother, Colleen McCutcheon Stump.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Ed Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home. |
