CCCOA SERVES RECORD 481 THANKSGIVING MEALS - 47 Volunteer For "Operation Happy Thanksgiving"

(11/27/2015)
The Calhoun County Committee on Aging's "Operation Happy Thanksgiving," an annual event with all food provided by the Salvation Army, broke last year's record of a total 381 meals served by serving 461 meals this year.

"With the Salvation Army providing all the food, the efforts of nearly 50 volunteers, and CCCOA picking up the food in Parkersburg and providing facilities and coordination, it was truly a team effort," said Director Rick Poling.

Volunteers began work in the kitchen before 7:00 am Thanksgiving morning, with final clean-up efforts completed just after 2:30 pm.

Forty-seven volunteers participated in serving 121 meals in the CCCOA dining hall, providing 128 carry-out meals, and delivering 212 meals to all corners of Calhoun County. In all, an estimated 298 volunteer hours were involved in the effort.

The CCCOA wishes to thank all the volunteers and all who joined in the dining for embracing the event with the full spirit of Thanksgiving.
