Ottice Randall Brannon, 84, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Roane General Hospital in Spencer after a brave battle with kidney disease.
Randall was born at Minnora, Calhoun County, West Virginia, a son of the late Ottice G. Brannon and Madge Knotts Brannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Ruby Blackshire Brannon; a brother, Arlan Brannon; and the love of his life, his wife, Nellie Marie Roach Brannon.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Eric Brannon and wife Regina of Spencer; granddaughter, Erica Brannon Gunn, JD; and a grandson, Dr. Randall S. Brannon.
He was a veteran of the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. He worked for the W.H. Smith Hardware Company for many years prior to purchasing and operating Brannon's Store in Spencer, until his retirement. After retirement, he spent much time taking care of his much-loved farm in Calhoun County. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman, a tradition carried on by his son and grandson. He will be sorely missed by friends and family.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Minnora Cemetery in Calhoun County. There will be no visitation.
