State foresters say the the threat of forest fires remain high this week in the Mountain State.
There is a wind advisory of area Wednesday 40-50 mph gusts. There is a large brush fire burning at Maysel, Clay County.
The main culprit for last weeks fires focused on strong winds falling trees onto power poles, although a large Calhoun fire appeared to start near a gas well head.
Last week rains of Wednesday pre-dawn quickly evaporated by high winds that followed Thursday and Friday.
Controlled burning during fire season in West Virginia starts at 5 PM and ends at 7 AM, with a number of restrictions.
With another spell of warm, dry, windy Indian Summer due this week, the most severe fire conditions may be ahead.
