Pastor David Weaver blesses animals
The Mt. Zion United Methodist Church hosted a service for the blessing of animals Saturday at the community park.
"Pets become creatures of love," said Pastor David Weaver
Costume judging and the winners
"The bond between person and pet is like no other relationship, because the communication between fellow creatures is most basic, eye-to-eye, a man and his dog, or a woman and her cat," said Weaver.
The blessing of animals originates in early Christian history, based on St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures.
There was also a pet costume contest.
