L-R: Mitch DeBoard, Delegate David Perry, Delegate Roger
Hanshaw, Paul Kinder, Roger Lipscomb, and Michael Shamblin
The Buffalo Creek Recreational Trail runs from Pisgah Bridge in Clay approximately 20 miles to the mining town of Widen. The areas along the trail are rich with mining history and natural scenery.
On October 22nd, members of local government and West Virginia University toured sections of the trail discussing its accomplishments and future uses, including, Mitch DeBoard, Clay BDA, Delegate David Perry, Delegate Roger Hanshaw, Paul Kinder of WVU Davis College, Roger Lipscomb of Trak Spec Railroad and Michael Shamblin, WVU Extension Agent, and Ed Hamrick of WVDEP.
"Good things have happened", explained Mitch DeBoard, President of the Clay Business Development Authority. "Three bridges are now decked and local donations are in place to deck two more. The stream quality is improving too. Most of Buffalo Creek now supports both bass and trout."
