Vonda Elouise "Pedro" Montgomery, 72, of Howard Street, Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 5:04 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, West Virginia, following an extended illness.
Born February 12, 1943 in Gilmer County, Pedro was the daughter of the late Homer L. and Maggie V. Collins Moyers.
Pedro served Gilmer County for over 16 years as the Gilmer County jailer and dispatcher. She also served as a Glenville City Council member.
Pedro was a Baptist by faith, she enjoyed cooking, caring for family and friends, spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and listening to the local scanner traffic.
Pedro wore many hats, such as homemaker, waitress, caregiver, and cook. not only for her family, but the Gilmer County community.
Surviving are 2 children, Jeffrey Joe Montgomery and wife Patty of Sand Fork, West Virginia, and Pamela Cutlip and husband Samuel of Glenville; 4 grandchildren, Larry Frederick and companion Misha Parker, Christina Junkins and husband Kevin, Patrick Joe Montgomery, and Kayla Montgomery; 5 great grandchildren, Keighan Michael Chewning, Christopher Wesley Junkins, Maggie Jo Junkins, and Aiden Reid; 1 brother, Larry Moyers and wife Gloria of Malvern, Ohio, and 1 extra special brother-in-law, Tom Luzader.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Pedro was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Vera Adams, Madaline Beam, Elaine Hoover, Erie Heater, Gary Moyers and Wanda Luzader.
Per Pedro's request her remains were cremated and a Memorial Service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, West Virginia, at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2015, with Pastor Bryan Groves and Rev. Kenny Fisher officiating. Friends may call from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the mortuary. |
