Calhoun is to be included in a newly proposed central WV ATV trail.
Amanda Payne, a representative of the Rahall Transportation Institute, told Calhoun commissioners that the county would be included in a study of the ATV trail.
Payne said the Rahall Transportation Institute had been commissioned by the WV Legislature to conduct a feasibility study to construct a new multi-county ATV trail, similar to the Hatfield and McCoy Trail in the southern part of the state.
Payne said that seven counties were in the planning stages for the study area.
In addition to Calhoun the new trail would traverse Nicholas, Gilmer, Lewis, Clay, Braxton and Webster counties.
There would be public hearings scheduled in the future.
The proposed Dark Skies project at Calhoun Park is now in the development and planning stage.
