Jacques Frost was calling in Creston over the weekend. Apparently Al Gore's 'global warming crew' took off for Tahiti or Dar es Salaam.

Rick Williams brought the message at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

The Creston Halloween party is Saturday, October 24 at the Creston Community Building. The event is for "children" of all ages. One can dress up and be somebody. There will be scary rides after the main event at the building.

Knotts Brothers have been cutting gas line rights-of-way in the Burning Springs & Creston area. They even cut the Mountaineer Gas right-of-way that goes up the Richardsonville Road, a first. Godfrey L. Cabot first installed the line sometime before 1920.

William Thomas Amos, age 65, of Walker passed away. He was a son of Robert & Edna Campbell Amos.

Nancy Foggin, age 73, passed away. She was a daughter of Edward and Delma Pepper Grimm.

William Harrison "Billy" Parsons, age 54 passed away while hunting. He was a son of Doy & the late Violet Parsons and the father of Angelina Parsons. He had been told he needed a stint but said he wasn't going to fool with that.

For those who have not been in the area for a time it should be noted that part of the steel for the new rest home in Elizabeth has been erected.

The Department of Highways announced that they now have a brine maker at the interstate garage near Parkersburg. The brine will be made from salt that costs about $80+/ton. Some wonder why this is being done when an unlimited supply of brine could be provided for free from local oil & gas producers. Some few years back brine samples were taken and found to be satisfactory for state road use. Perhaps the legislative audit of the DOH will address this issue as well. One individual familiar with the audit noted that several who were to be questioned for the audit have never been contacted. It was also noted that last winter salt cost $140/ton.

Common Core, the invasive federal government sanctioned educational program that continues the dumbing down of state scholars, is being defended by the educrats that call the shots down at the Mouth of the Elk. Those who want students who can think and understand and comprehend basic math, English, history, geography, science, etc. need to continue the fight. With the state's big $250 million tax shortfall, perhaps closing down 90% of the state education department would be a wise move.

There was a big tri state shale summit at Morgantown where the politicians from all three states could expound on all that they were doing for the peasants. Earl Ray & Broadway Joe led the pack for W. Va. while other states did speeches via video, sent underlings, etc. They agreed that they would not compete against each other, whatever that might mean in practice. If hot air could do anything other than put balloons in the air there would be three ethane crackers converting ethane, currently being flared into ethylene, thousands more would be in the workforce and the state would have a budget surplus.

The new EPA rule WOTUS (Waters of the United States) continues to be a matter of concern for area farmers, timbermen and ordinary homeowners. If one is caught putting fertilizer, herbicide or manure on areas under the new federal jurisdiction one is subject to fines of $37,500/day/violation and they can go back five years. Something over 99% of the land in West Virginia likely is subject to the new rules. A federal judge in Cincinnati put a temporary injunction against the feds but that can be overturned and the agency can choose to ignore the judge's rule. It is understood that the federal busybodies intend to use drones, google earth pictures, etc. get evidence against citizens & taxpayers. EPA has also purchased lots of military equipment to use on someone. Is it any wonder that enablers like Speaker Boehner were rejected by the citizens & non-political outsiders continue to be the choice for the next president.

Those who watched the debate on the Tee Vee noted that the party of Thomas Jefferson has now become the party of Karl Marx. Several local folks have relatives who are spinning in their graves. While the speakers claimed they would take from the "1%" to give to "the poor" no one actually believes that the Clinton family, the Kennedy family, the Rockefeller family, George Soros and others similarly situate, will be required to pony up a penny. Those who work will be required to keep those who the late Larn Headley said, "Wouldn't work in a pie factory."

The price of gasoline had dropped below $1.82 in Jackson County while the same fuel costs 40 to 50 cents more just a few miles distant. The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is $46.26 with condensate fetching $27.26, Marcellus & Utica light $40.26 and medium $46.26/bbl.

Charles Russell was calling on Paris Parsons, Ray Gumm and brother Euell at the Miletree Center in Spencer.

Zola & Bucky Bell & family were attending to business in Spencer.
