WorkForce West Virginia's list of the 100 largest state employers was topped by Walmart for the 17th year in a row.
The state's top five largest private employers after Walmart were West Virginia United Health System, Charleston Area Medical Center, Kroger, and Mylan Pharmaceuticals.
Rounding out the top ten was Murray American Energy, St. Mary's Medical Center, and Lowe's.
In earlier years, the state's steelmakers were the largest employers, prior to being globalized, mostly to China.
