John H. Tanner, Sr., 68, of Harmony, West Virginia, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at CAMC Memorial in Charleston, West Virginia.
He was born November 5, 1946 in Spencer, West Virginia, a son of the late Grover and Sylvia Batten Tanner. John was a retired dozer operator, enjoyed farming, restoring old tractors and vehicles and feeding the birds. He enjoyed living life and talking with friends and making new friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Nichols Tanner; two sons, John, Jr. and Gregory (Tina), both of Sandyville, West Virginia; three daughters, Angela (Eric) Tanner of Ripley, West Virginia, and April (Mike) Greathouse and Priscilla (Dean) Workman, all of Harmony; two grandsons, Clayton and Garrett Workman; two granddaughters, Kelcie Tanner and Emilea Greathouse; two sisters, Carolyn Tanner of Charleston and Barbara Coe of Paoli, Indiana; and a brother, Roy Tanner of Spencer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer. There will be no service as John's wishes were to be cremated after the viewing.
