| Flu season is just around the corner, protect yourself and your family by getting your flu vaccine early. Anyone six months of age or older should get the flu vaccine. Since it takes about two weeks to be fully effective, it is important to get the vaccine before flu season starts in the area.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that all individuals get the vaccine. The vaccine comes in two varieties - nasal spray and injection. The nasal spray has some health restrictions and is not recommended for infants or for those with allergies to egg or egg products. MOVHD has a limited supply of the nasal spray.
Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department is offering flu vaccines at all six locations. MOVHD bills Medicare, WV Medicaid, Healthplan, Carelink, Unicare, United Health, PEIA, Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
If you do not have insurance, the cost is $25.00 or if you are over 65 and do not have Medicare, it is $30.00. Payment is due on the date of service.
