Calhoun went on the road to Tyler Consolidated Friday with 4-0 record and came home with a 4-1 mark after the Silver Knights skewered the Red Devils, 54-12.
Calhoun kept the game close early on and if not for a couple of miscues it may have been closer.
The first miscue gave Silver Knights good field position and they cashed in when Tyler Anderson scored from eight yards out. He added the extra points run making it 8-0.
The Red Devils made another mistake not long afterward and TCHS made them pay when Anderson rumbled in from 14 yards out. His extra points run made it 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Calhoun seemed the right the ship early in the second period when Casey Ritchie tallied from a yard out. His short scoring run was set up by Seth Moore's 21-yard gallop to the five.
But then the wheels came totally off the wagon as TCHS scored 32 unanswered points for a 48-8 lead at the end of three.
Calhoun got back on the board by scoring against the first team TCHS on another Casey Ritchie run making it 48-12 before both teams put in the subs.
The Silver Knights got a late touchdown to set the final score.
Cole Ritchie led the Calhoun offense with 18 carries for 88 yards while Moore added 68 on six tries and Noah Allen 17 on three attempts.
Casey Ritchie ran for 12 yards while passing for 13 on a one-for-five night. His one completion was to Ethyn Miller who also rushed for 12 yards on three attempts.
Things don't get any easier for the Red Devils as they travel to third-ranked and unbeaten South Harrison this coming Friday night. Tyler Consolidated is at home to River, Ohio, the same night.
