Kenneth D. Godfrey, 83, of Grantsville, WV died September 24, 2015 at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, WV.
He was born December 24, 1931 in Withers, WV, a son of the late Omar "Cleve" and Alda Kuhl Godfrey.
He graduated from Normantown High School in 1950 and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Consolidated Natural Gas after 40 ½ years and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and taught Sunday School and Bible Study for over 20 years. His favorite hobbies were hunting and gardening and he was a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Todd Godfrey and two sisters, Jean Dunlap of St. Albans and Patricia Leach of Grantsville, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Norma Jean Owens Godfrey; 4 brothers; and 5 sisters.
The family would like to thank the Roane Skilled Nursing Facility and Roane General Hospital for the excellent care they provided to him.
Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015 with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015. Interment will be at Nobe Cemetery.
The Godfrey family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in honor of Ken to the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 3616 N. Calhoun Hwy., Grantsville, WV 26147.
