A connector to a fire hydrant at Arnoldsburg Elementary School was damaged Tuesday, causing some water problems.
A statement regarding the incident was released by the Mt. Zion PSD:
"The incident resulted from a school supply vendor servicing the Arnoldsburg Elementary School food supply in a tractor trailer vehicle driving over and breaking a connection beneath a fire hydrant located at the school and supplying water to only the school's fire protection line."
"Due to the hydrant being broken, the onset of a rush of water disturbed the normal sediment in this line. The resultant muddy appearance raised concerns of the school personnel which was reviewed with Mount Zion PSD staff."
"To ensure the availability of safe water at the school, Mount Zion PSD and school personnel are working to successfully resolve any issues in the situation."
"Mt. Zion Public Service District was available when called and will continue to monitor the situation and assist whenever needed until the situation is resolved."
There is no issue with Mt. Zion Public Service District tanks, nor any distribution lines serving any other Mt. Zion customers, according to
Jeremy Westfall, operator,
and Patty Cottrell, office manager for
Mt. Zion Public Service District.
