Media accounts in southern WV say that George Washington Harmon, 82, of Anawalt, may be the oldest person arrested on drug charges in West Virginia. He and and a relative were arrested last week for delivery of a controlled substance.
That record could be held by Orma resident, Edward Barrera, 87, now deceased.
In 2010, Barrera was arrested in Jackson County with one-and-one-half pounds of marijuana.
Barrera was involved with raising dogs for dog fighting.
A native of Spain and former employee of IBM, he was found dead at his Orma residence, with 32 dogs on his property.
Investigators discovered Barrera was a well-known figure related to dog fighting around the USA.
