WOMAN ATTACKS - South Charleston police said a women was charged after allegedly attacking her girlfriend by knocking her to the ground, chocking and biting her and threatening her life with a knife.
Alisha Dawn Shull, 30, of Milton is charged with malicious wounding, according to a criminal complaint.
According to the complaint, Shull attacked her girlfriend, Kerstin Vandecasteele, on Aug. 22 at Joplin Park along Kanawha Turnpike.
Police said Shull came up from behind Vandecasteele and tackled her to the ground, spraining her wrist. Shull then held the victim down and took an open knife and put the blade against the left side of Vandecasteele's neck, threatening to kill her.
Shull then slid the knife along Vandecasteele's neck, leaving a red swollen knife blade on the victim's neck, the complaint said.
Vandecasteele was able to get away and run into the woods, but Shull found her and allegedly drug her back up the hill by her hair and slammed her into a car.
When the two arrived at Thomas Memorial Hospital, the complaint said Shull punched Vandecasteele in the jaw with the knife in her hand.
At the hospital, Vandecasteele was also found to have multiple bite marks on her stomach and arms. The complaint said Vandecasteele's arm was also sprained.
Shull is being held in South Central Regional Jail on a $250,000 bond.
BLUEFIELD SHOOTING - A man was flown by a medical helicopter to a Charleston hospital Sunday night after suffering a gunshot wound in a fight with his girlfriend's uncle in Bluefield.
A man police identified as Andre Hamlet, 31, of Bluefield, was shot at a residence. Police arrested Jackie Whitehead, 38, also of Bluefield, and charged him with malicious wounding.
Whitehead had come to the residence to try and get Hamlet to leave, police said.
