SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Six West Virginia Natural Resources Police Officers graduated Aug. 21 from the West Virginia State Police Academy after completing more than 800 hours of training over 16 weeks.
Next, they will report to their home districts to begin the Field Training Officer Program, where they will learn the job of enforcing the state's natural resources laws hands-on from a senior Natural Resources Police Officer before being given their county assignments later this year.
The graduating NRPOs are (left to right in photo) Isaiah A. Tuck, Zachary B. Kisamore, Jeremy M. Quinn, Jackie A. Moore, Kenneth S. Little, and Randy S. Cremeans Jr.
NRPO Tuck received the highest award possible, the Outstanding Officer Award, and also was selected by his classmates as the class speaker.
West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Director Robert Fala was the keynote speaker, the first time a DNR director has been asked to deliver a speech at an academy graduation. Director Fala spoke about his career beginning almost 40 years ago as a conservation officer in Pennsylvania.
Officer Tuck ended the graduation ceremony by proposing to his girlfriend. She said yes!
