Denver Roy Wallbrown, 90, of Spencer, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
He was born July 5, 1925 at Beech, in Calhoun County, West Virginia, a son of the late Roscoe Kenna and Icy Hall Wallbrown.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor at First Nation Bank in Spencer and a member of the VFW and Otto/Clover Senior Citizens. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II where he received the Purple Heart and the Insignia of Chevalier de la Legion d' Honneur, France's highest award.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Richard DeLawder of Mathias, West Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Sherry Wallbrown of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; a sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Jack Miller of Spencer; four grandchildren, Ryan and Angie Miller, Kristen Wallbrown, Kara and Darrell Shaw, and Kessa and Phillip Fenton; and five great-grandchildren, Avery Hesson, Kenley Fenton, Jase Shaw, Misty Miller, and Ryan Eric Miller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Bissell Wallbrown; and three brothers, Donzel, Eugene, and Richard.
Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, with Rev. Danny Whited officiating. Burial will follow in the Otto Cemetery. Visiting will be Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. |
