Mary Virginia "Miss Ginn" King, 72, of Spencer, West Virginia, departed this life Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at the H.J. Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after an extended illness.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Michael; two children, Kelli King of Martinsburg and Doug (Cristy) King of Greenville, Ind.; two grandchildren, Wylie and Carli both of Greenville. She is also survived by a sister, Jorita Batten (Glenn); two brothers, David (Suzanne) Freshwater and Larry Freshwater; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob S. Freshwater and her mother, Goldie Raines Freshwater; sisters, Betty Garst, Ruby Dye, Glenna Burdette and Ruth Tennant.
Miss Ginn was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the MeadowDale Baptist Church and a graduate of the West Virginia Baptist Convention School of Christian Studies. Also, she was an active grief counselor, former pilot and loved working with children at the church and in the community.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Dr. William R. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
