Bob Sims brought the message at the Burning Springs M. E. Church. Gay Park noted that she was on the puny list.

Several area residents attended the Wirt County Fair with local folks and those with local connections being involved in many activities including the showing and sale of animals, the mud bog [which had a huge crowd] games, contests, food consumption, etc. The livestock sale totaled $172,000.

The Creston homecoming will be held Sunday, August 16 at the Creston Community Building which is the old Creston school. Come and bring your memories, pictures, memorabilia, friends and family.

There will be a Dip & Donate picnic benefit on Saturday August 15 from 11 A. M. until ???? at the Creston Community Building. The purpose is to help raise money so Peggy Tenbarge can pay for her late husband's funeral. There will be 50/50, games for children and adults. For details contact Angie at 304-377-7768. The event will be held rain or shine and one should bring a lawn chair.

It was noted that there has been a lot of pinkeye in the local cattle population.

The survey crews have come in, in some instances from Louisiana, for the "hush hush" gas pipeline that Columbia (Mountaineer Xpress) is putting through the local area. Surveyors were working on W. Va. 5 near the former Jess Ashley place and on Route 14 near Reedy. They are surveying through Roger Young's farm on Monroe Ridge. When asked, locals are told, "Oh the pipeline is going from Moundsville to New Martinsville [both towns which are to the north] and then, well I suppose to the gulf." "What size line is it?", "Oh, I don't know maybe 36", really don't know." Local residents need to be very careful with what they sign as the big boys have a bad history of putting the shaft to West Virginia residents. Farm & Dairy has had several good articles on dealing with pipe line companies and the Ohio Farm Bureau came out with some helpful information as has Dave McMahan's (SORO -Surface Owners Rights Organization) guide book. A ideal situation is one where one is paid an annual payment in addition to the initial payment for damages, etc. Some landowning companies and state agencies are so paid.

It was reported that Tim Ellison 'Dozer Service is going to open up a quarry up in High Log. Presently he is is working on the Starvation Point facility.

The Wirt road crew did some patch & level and stone application on the Ann's Run road with the apparent end of surface treating (tar & chip). One would hope that the sections with the crusher run added will be triple treated with 7s, 8s and 9s. Hopefully then Roane County will repair their stretch from the county line to the Lower Barnes Run road. The road had been badly wallowed out by heavy log trucks.

Signs are installed for the paving of W. Va. 5 from the Wirt County line to the new Annamoriah bridge.

A woman 'from the flatlands' was calling on the Richardsonville Road and drug her chariot in one of the big wallow holes that she had not anticipated. Those who drive small cars are obliged to put one wheel on the berm to avoid dragging. Heavy loads have made the base failures very obvious.

One local resident has a crop of brand new tree frog (toad) tadpoles.

Cap'n & Mrs. Spock went to New Martinsville and dined at the Choo Choo.

The mystery donor who gave the secret $1 million to little Jebbie Bush turned out to be coal billionaire Chris Cline who has connections with the Big Eared One's buddy Broadway Joe. The powers that be apparently are furious that Donald Trump has stolen little Jebbie's thunder as additional news comes out about the Bush boy's convoluted dealings with Madame Hillary. Some have trouble realizing that most folks are furious that the republican "leadership" is comprised of eunuchs who go along with everything the Big Eared One does. Mitch McConnell even supported giving taxpayer money to the baby killing Planned Parenthood even after it was shown that they are in the business of selling baby parts "to improve their bottom line". No doubt they will go along with giving Iran the $150 billion so that they can wipe Israel off the map and make Hitler's dream come true. Paul, in New Testament times, said it was profitable to study scripture and one would hope that the few adults down in the swamps of the lower Potomac study what was said of those who would harm Israel and advise any who would listen, even if they are treated like Jeremiah & Bibi Netanyahu. The Big Eared One in a low blow [even for him] compared those who oppose his plan of being like the mullahs who cry "Death to America".

Randy, the fellow the postal service brought in to run the Brooksville post office, got badly burned when his chariot caught fire. Now Naomi Toler is back working locally.

A petition is being circulated to ask that the state road reopen the Yellow Creek Road. Apparently the powers that be consider that no one of consequence lives "up there". When coming from Creston and going to Smithville, Harrisville and points in that direction the short route has always been to turn at Brooksville and go up the Yellow Creek Road to Big Springs.

Ted Grimm took Charles Russell to Brooksville one day last week. Charles was also calling on Paris Parsons, Ray Gumm and brother Euell at the Miletree Center.

A prominent Tyler County farmer noted that he had talked to some of the leadership in the legislature about the forced pooling legislation and that they actually listened to him. Apparently, some are fearful of being defeated for being errand boys [and girls] for the out of state corporations who like to practice 'crony capitalism' a/k/a corporate welfare.

It was learned that Joe O'Ferrell, Pete Mongeau and the others at Standard Oil of West Virginia have or are in the process of purchasing some well known Roane and Wirt based oil and gas companies. Some natural gas was sold for 73 cents.

There is continued talk about a suit over Mother Hope's "firm transport" charges which may soon leave producers owing the Rockefellers a monthly bill for transporting and selling local natural gas. Fat Pat, the Oilfield Rat, continues to improve at the Miletree Center at Spencer.

Peanut Bunch was attending to business in Elizabeth.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude dropped to $42.87.bbl. with condensate fetching only $18.87, Marcellus & Utica light $36.87 and medium $42.87/bbl. It was reported that Consol is laying off 500 employees and that JayBee (Randy Broida) is shutting a significant amount of his production.
