About 160 potential employees attended last weekend's Roane-Calhoun job expo in Spencer, with 17 employers looking for applicants.
Some employers brought applications, some had point of contact sheets that interested individuals could complete for the employer to get back with them, and some potential employees submitted resumes they had brought with them.
Following the event, employers discovered they had given out 234 applications, accepted 68 completed applications, received 16 resumes, and made 190 points of contact.
The representative from the West Virginia Division of Personnel, Jimmy Davis, said, "This is one of the busiest events I've been to."
Roane General Hospital representative, Wendy Hughes said, "It is very likely we will easily be able to fill two of our three current openings from this event."
The sponsors, speaking with other employers, received great feedback on the quality of potential employees in our area. There were jobs available for people with degrees, high school diplomas and some that did not require either.
An informal survey of job seekers seemed to show a positive reaction.
The event was sponsored by Westbrook Health Services and Roane and Calhoun Family Resource Network.
