| Robert B. Begley, Sr. age 83 of Newberne Road, Cox's Mills, West Virginia, departed this life at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Glenville Care and Rehab Center in Glenville, following a long and fruitful life.
Born February 18, 1932 in Bledsoe, Kentucky. Robert was the son of the late Oscar and Mallie Huff Begley.
Robert was a 16 year old graduate of Pine Mountain Settlement school, Pine Mt. KY and was a Navy Veteran from the Korean Conflict. He also attended Berea College in Berea KY, Baldwin Wallace University in Berea OH, and graduated from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio.
Robert was employed by the Ford Motor Company in 1958 and worked for 34 years at the Brookpark Ford Plant. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Glenville WV, where he has farmed since 1993. He was a Free Mason of 62 years and reached 32nd degree status.
Robert was a Methodist by faith and enjoyed reading, gardening, farming, and learning.
On August 27, 1973, Robert was united in marriage to Norma Sprouse Begley, who survives at their Newberne home.
Surviving are 4 children, Robert Begley Jr. and wife Tracy of Strongsville OH, Patricia Van Camp of Virginia, Norma Jean Workman and husband Gerald of Wakeman OH, and Jacqueline E. Holland and husband Parti of Lorain OH. There are also 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild surviving.
Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Parti Holland II; and 5 siblings, Chester Begley, Mary Elizabeth Howard, Tena Scearse, Becky Blowers, and Turner Begley.
Roberts request for cremation has been honored and the family will have a private memorial service on the family farm at a later date.
